How Facebook brings out our Narcissistic ego








Facebook likes Narcissistic people



Why do people insist on broadcasting themselves? 

Simply, it’s because we are all Narcissus’s replica. We feel empty when our friends brag about being there and doing that. Thus, summoning our competitive side which has led to an established identity defined by what others think of us.


In addition, Facebook’s  “like and share” button and positive comments from our friends are methods of instrumental  conditioning.

In the world of Psychology, this is often associated with operant conditioning. According B.F. Skinner, we acquire a range of learned behaviors that we exhibit everyday.

In the digital sense, Every time, we post hilarious statuses and stunning pictures of ourselves in Facebook, our friends present a reward to us by using tools such as the like and share buttons. In addition, positive remarks uplift our moods.  As a result, we are buoyant  to promote ourselves more online.

Gone were the times when we were actually humble enough to realize that our mundane lives are not that interesting.
